EM-RM

EM-RM is an expansion module with relay functionality for TROX Ox room-control applications.

The module provides one relay output and is used for switching external loads such as lighting or other on/off functions controlled by FAM-W.
EM-RM communicates with FAM-W via I²C and is connected using a standard Cat6 patch cable with RJ45 connectors. Up to four EM modules can be connected in daisy chain. The relay function is configured in the TROX Ox ServiceApp.

Application

EM-RM is an expansion module with relay functionality for TROX

Ox room-control applications. The module is used when an additional relay output is required from a FAM-W room controller.

Typical applications include lighting control based on PIR presence detection or a light switch connected to FAM-W. EMRM can also be used for relay output control based on heating demand, cooling demand, second-stage heating or second-stage cooling.

The control logic is handled by FAM-W. EM-RM provides the physical relay output and is configured in the TROX Ox ServiceApp.

Functional description

EM-RM communicates with FAM-W via I²C communication. The module is connected to the FAM-W expansion module port using a standard Cat6 patch cable with RJ45 connectors.

Each EM-RM includes one normally open relay output. Several EM modules can be connected in daisy chain, with up to four modules connected to one FAM-W. The maximum cable length between two units is 10 m.

Each module is assigned an address from 1 to 4 using DIP switches. Each EM-RM connected to the same FAM-W must have a unique address.

EM-RM has one relay input and one switched relay output. The voltage connected to the relay input is made available on the relay output when the relay is activated. EM-RM receives its operating voltage from FAM-W via the RJ45 connection, but the voltage to be switched must be connected separately to the relay input.

The relay function is configured in the TROX Ox ServiceApp.

Each EM-RM in the daisy chain can be assigned an individual function.

EM-RM can be configured for different room-control functions, including:

Light control: Relay output controlled by PIR presence detection or light switch connected to FAM-W

Heating demand: Relay output activated based on heating demand

Cooling demand: Relay output activated based on cooling demand

Second-stage heating: Relay output activated when the room temperature is further away from setpoint than the configured second-stage heating threshold

Second-stage cooling: Relay output activated when the room temperature is further away from setpoint than the configured second-stage cooling threshold

The adjustment points and control conditions are configured in FAM-W using the TROX Ox ServiceApp.
