General information

Application
Svalbard-I VAV is used for demand-controlled ventilation as well as hydronic cooling and heating in offices, retail premises, and educational facilities. The unit is designed to deliver high cooling capacity without causing draught in the occupied zone. Svalbard- I VAV is designed for integration in standard T-bar suspended ceiling systems with 600 mm module.


Functional description
The unit has an integrated VAV damper that regulates the primary airflow according to demand. Supply air is introduced via fixed nozzles, meaning that the nozzle area remains unchanged regardless of the current airflow rate. The airflow induces room air that is drawn through the coil, ensuring efficient mixing and reducing the risk of draught. The damper solution can throttle high pressures at large airflow rates while maintaining a low sound level.
Svalbard-I VAV can be supplied with several different bus communication options for connection to BMS systems. The control range of Svalbard-I VAV is shown in Table 2.
Measurement deviation by range:
10–20% of nominal: ±25%
20–40% of nominal: <±10%
40–100% of nominal: <±4%
In T-duct situations, a straight duct length of at least 5 x ØD is recommended to maintain the same measurement accuracy.


Design
Svalbard-I VAV is designed as a complete measurement and control unit for demand-based airflow control.
• VAV control: Integrated damper solution at the beam inlet, corresponding to the functionality of other TROX products.
• Nozzles: Supplied with fixed nozzle configuration. The nozzles are factory preset but can be manually adjusted on site if required.
• Motor options: Supplied with external rotary actuator from Belimo or Siemens for easy access via the ceiling. Regulator specifications are shown in Table 1. Complete technical documentation can be downloaded from www.belimo.eu and www.siemens.com.
• Water side: Coils are supplied as standard cooling coil (SKB), high-capacity coil (HKB), or combined heating and cooling coil (VKB). Connection via Ø15 mm copper pipes.
• Air side: Ø125 mm connection with integrated measuring cross for differential pressure measurement.
• Flexibility: The front panel is hinged for inspection, and the air distribution pattern can be manually adjusted with Jet Split vanes.


Material and surfaces
Frame and casing are made of galvanized sheet steel. The coil consists of copper tubes with aluminum fins. The unit is supplied as standard painted white RAL 9003, gloss level 30. The measuring cross is made of aluminum, while hoses and nipples are made of plastic.


Size
For accurate calculation of cooling capacity, sound power level, and pressure drop, the AURASIM simulation program is used.


Commissioning
Svalbard-I VAV is delivered factory preset according to the order. If nozzle opening adjustment is required on site, a locking screw is loosened so that the nozzle slide can be manually adjusted. For damper motor commissioning, service tools such as Belimo ZTH-VAV or Siemens AST20 are used.


Maintenance
Full access to the coil and control unit is ensured by swinging down the bottom panel of the beam. Vacuum cleaning of the coil or cleaning with a damp cloth is recommended as needed.
