APPLICATION

The VFD is a volume flow regulator for supply air that works independently of the duct pressure. The VFD is based on dynamic measurement of airflow and regulates the damper position so that the desired airflow is maintained. When there is a change in duct pressure, for example when other volume regulators on the branch open or close, the the volume regulator compensates by adjusting the damper until the desired air flow amount is again achieved. Setting the desired minimum and maximum air volumes can be done at the factory, or after installation, using service tools from Belimo or Siemens.
The VAV unit is designed for comfort ventilation with temperature conditions between 0°C and 50°C and relative humidity between 5% and 95% without condensation.

INSTALLATION

On VFDs, suspension brackets are used on the sides with threaded rod or hanger.
To maintain the unit's measurement accuracy, it is important that it is mounted with distances as shown in figures 4 and 5. When mounting in a branch, it is recommended min. 5xDia. distance between T-branch and VFD. If larger deviations are acceptable, the distance can be reduced somewhat, but the minimum recommended distance is 3xD.
VFD can be installed directly after the bend without this measurement deviation, provided that there is no strong interference before the bend.
VFD is specially developed for installation together with DID614, cooling baffle. With these two products, you get a Eurovent certified four-way chilled beam with VAV function that ensures the desired airflow at all times.

The VFD always regulates itself to the airflow that corresponds to the control signal. The VAV unit consists of a control damper and an airflow measuring station. The measuring principle is dynamic measurement of the air flow. The damper motor’s regulator section controls the the damper based on the desired setpoint. Thanks to the special tube damper solution, high airflow can be reduced creating low sound level even at high pressures and therefore eliminates the need for a silencer after the unit. The VFD can be supplied with several different bus options for SD systems. VFD has a control range as shown in table 2.


Measurement deviation for area
10 - 20% av nominal: ±25%
20 - 40% av nominal: <±10%
40 - 100% av nominal: <±4%.

For T-branch situations, a distance of at least 5 x ØD is recommended to maintain the same measurement accuracy.
