General information

Application
X-VALVE-W is used in TROX Ox room-control applications for wireless control of heating and cooling valve applications. The
actuator is compatible with the FAM-W room controller and is intended for energy-efficient room-temperature control in public and commercial buildings. It is suitable for new installations and refurbishment projects where reliable wireless communication, long battery life and low maintenance requirements are important.


Functional description
X-VALVE-W is an intelligent wireless radiator-valve actuator for the TROX Ox system. The actuator receives control commands from FAM-W and adjusts the heating- and cooling valve position to maintain the required room temperature. Typical installation is for radiators where wiring is complicated or not requested as existing buildings have no cable-tubes available. During commissioning, the actuator performs an automatic valve adaptation to identify the available valve stroke. The product is designed for direct installation on radiator valves with M30 x 1.5 mm connection. Metal adapters for other valve interfaces are available on request. Key features include wireless communication with FAM-W, automatic valve adaptation, compact design, regulating force above 150 N, battery-powered operation and a battery life of more than 7 years under normal operating conditions. The wireless design reduces field wiring and supports flexible installation in occupied buildings.


Technical data
X-VALVE-W is powered by a 3.6 V lithium C-cell battery with High Load Connector. The radio communication operates at 2.4 GHz and has a typical indoor range of up to 30 m, depending on building conditions and installation environment. The actuator provides a valve stroke of 4.8 mm and is intended for valve temperatures from +20 °C to +120 °C. The product has enclosure class IP30 and is suitable for operation from 0 °C to +50 °C and 0-95 % relative humidity.


Installation and commissioning 

Install the actuator on a radiator valve with M30 x 1.5 mm thread, or use a suitable metal adapter where required. Insert the specified lithium battery and connect the battery cable to the connector in the battery compartment. Check that the battery connector is correctly seated before commissioning. Add the wireless actuator in the TROX Ox ServiceApp and press the Pair button (button 2) for 3 seconds to start pairing. The actuator will perform valve adaptation while establishing communication with FAM-W; the connection process may take some time. After commissioning, verify that the actuator responds to room-temperature demand and that communication with FAM-W is stable. Installation and service should be carried out by qualified personnel. Allow the radiator to cool before installation, removal or service to avoid personal injury. Do not modify the device or use it if damaged. Use only the specified battery type and original accessories. For cleaning, use a dry or slightly damp cloth and avoid chemical solvents.
